The Five Most Iconic Dresses of the 1950's

The 1950's are responsible for so many beautiful fashions, and music and so much more, and in my opinion is the best LOOKING time in american history. The hardest part about making this list was not finding the looks because I love so many 1950's looks but was picking which look from each of the fashion icons I chose to show, and also I didn't want to repeat names. (even though I did, but I had to!)

This list represents the most Iconic looks of the 1950's; meaning the looks that defined this era. The looks, that in my opinion shaped how people dressed and style their hair and inspired trends that people still remember today, still imitate today, and the looks that might still remain the number most iconic look of all time. Don't forget to let me know what you think!
What's the most iconic dress of the 1950's to you?

1. Audrey Hepburn's Dress from "Sabrina"

4. Grace Kelly's Wedding Dress

3. Marilyn Monroe's Pink Dress from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"

2. Elizabeth Taylor's Green Cocktail Dress in "Suddenly Last Summer"

Vanity Girl Hollwood: "Treat Yo Self"

I recently decided to listen my favorite characters from NBC's Parks & Recreation Tom & Donna aka Aziz Ansari and Retta and "TREATED MYSELF" and purchased an expensive vanity from Vanity Girl Hollywood. All together it was a little over 400 dollars. That sounds like a crazy amount to spend on a mirror to some people or on anything that's not a necessity but I wanted that Vanity for a long long time and I finally had the funds to get it for myself so I decided I deserved it, and plus it's amazing if I haven't already mentioned that! Since I've bought this mirror I've used it constantly, I can not stop looking at myself in that thing! I love it. I couldn't be happier. Vanity Girl Hollywood is amazing! So if your looking to splurge you should definitely check them out (I'll leave a link below) They also have a nice selection of affordable make-up organizing products and more and even a less expensive mirror. So I just wanted to share this and say it's okay to splurge and give your self a treat every now and then you definitely deserve it and you know it ;)

Vanity Girl Hollywood vanity mirrors are the epitome of glamour and a sweeping the nation!

Most Iconic Dresses of the Decades!

Hey! I wanted to write in this blog everyday but I got a little under the weather or over the weather since I was burning up and I wasn't technically sick I just was overheated mentally and took a little much need break from a lot of things. I just get out of it whenever the weather seems to change especially when its hot. I'm a winter baby and I love the cold weather, I definitely can do with out being sweaty and uncomfortable, who wants that !

Any who back to the topic at hand, I decided I'd like to do some post on the top 5 most iconic dresses of each decade, starting in the 1950s' and going on up to the 2000's since we haven't yet finished the 2010's. What makes a dress a Icon? The definition of a Icon is; One who is the object of great attention and devotion; an idol. So what exactly can make a DRESS iconic? I'll tell you. An iconic dress is the type of  dress that you put on and immediately everyone knows where that dress is from and or who that dress was worn by; A dress that if other dresses look similar to that dress they are merely imitating it; A dress and that goes down in history, its not just an ordinary dress that you can just wear anywhere its not just a dress its a ICON.

Mad Men Finale Feast

Sunday Night was AMC's Mad Men Season Six Finale and I like many viewers decided to go all out and prepare a retro 'Mad Men' feast. Instead of one Recipe being listed in thi post I will be posting four quick Appetizer recipes:

RetrPiña Coladas
Classic Deviled Eggs
French Onion Chicken Strips
Kielbasa Sausages

RetrPiña Coladas

Prep Time: 4 minutes
Total Time: 4 minutes
Yield: 1 drink

2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz light rum
1 1/2 oz cream of coconut
Pineapple wedge for garnish
Maraschino cherry for garnish

- Pour the ingredients into a blender filled with ice.
- Blend Well
- Pour into a chilled cocktail or collins glass. Or whatever glass     you have darlings ;)
- Garnish with the pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry

- 6 eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Smoked Spanish paprika, for garnish
(I also added Garlic Salt)

Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with enough water that there's 1 1/2 inches of water above the eggs. Heat on high until water begins to boil, then cover, turn the heat to low, and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and leave covered for 14 minutes, then rinse under cold water continuously for 1 minute.

Crack egg shells and carefully peel under cool running water. Gently dry with paper towels. Slice the eggs in half lengthwise, removing yolks to a medium bowl, and placing the whites on a serving platter. Mash the yolks into a fine crumble using a fork. Add mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
Evenly disperse heaping teaspoons of the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Sprinkle with paprika and serve.

French Onion Chicken Strips

This is a Simple Chicken Bake I cook for my family for dinner its quite delicious basically It's simple chicken topped with French's French Fried Onion's seasons I usually cook it with boneless chicken breast but for this occasion I used strips. If you replace the strips with 6 chicken breast the recipe directions and timing will work perfectly.

2.5 lb bag of chicken strips
garlic salt
french onion

Preheat oven to 350. Wash Chicken; Season Chicken with pepper and garlic salt as much as you prefer. Bake for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes sprinkle the French's French Fried Onion Season's over the chicken and then continue baking for 5 - 10 minutes.

Kielbasa Sausage

"Very simple ingredients I threw together to spice up some sausage"

1 Kielbasa Sausage
1 Green Onion
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

Chop up Kielbasa Sausage.
Chop up Green Onion. Place all ingredients in small bowl stir around. (I let them sit together for about 30 minutes, I don't know if that had any affect but I figure I better not leave that out lol) In a medium frying pan heat up tablespoon of butter. Once melted and pan is hot add ingredients and pan fry until sausage pieces are crisp and cooked to your liking. Once cooked let dry on paper towel to absorb juices and then put each pieces of sausage onto toothpicks and now you have a super cute and delicious sausage bites for your party!

& that's my Mad Men finale feast !

Today I attended church and I wanted to wear this dress that I had initially purchased for a night out on the town. I decided to style it up and make it look summery and I wanted to make the dress look retro with out being a retro dress. So I added a flower hair pin, a waist belt, pearl earrings, & lipstick.
